How the grade math works
- Points mode — grade % = earned ÷ total × 100. Example: 42/50 = 84%.
- Weighted mode — overall = Σ(category grade × weight). Weights should sum to 100%.
- Final exam mode — needed score = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w, where w is the final's weight.

FAQ
What do I need on the final if I have an 82%?
With the final worth 30% of the course, you need about (90 − 82×0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 74.7% on the final for a 90% overall. Try your own numbers in the Final Exam tab.
Is 90% an A?
On the standard US scale 93%+ is an A; 90–92% is an A−. Some schools use a simpler 90 = A scale — check your syllabus.
